Stephen Beadles

Meet Stephen. He's an 18 year old from Georgia who possesses a ton of talent.

Stephen is probably one of the most creative people I've seen in a while. One of the reasons that I love him is his set called "Escape Into This World". It is all about people or more like body parts popping out of a picture frame in the most unusual places. It almost looks like people are coming out of one world and entering another. Its a brilliant idea, I wish I could attempt the same.

Another great thing that Stephen does is that he uses a lot of light which almost makes the photo washed out but not in a bad way but in a very very good way. Because he has very fair skin he works off of that and takes pictures with white sheets or white backgrounds. Because he does this his blue eyes look even more electric. I think good way to showcase you're strengths.

Nika Fadul

Meet Mônica. She is a 19 year old who lives in Brazil and has got more talent in her than hairs on her head.

In her profile she tell us to 'see the world through her eyes'. I love love love that she says that. I think that's like the foundation of art. But anyways, she definitely has a great imagination if I'm looking through her eyes. For example, one of her sets is called Antigravity Blues. This set is all about different ways to redefine gravity. She has everything from people looking like they're flying away to people jumping up in the air. It is an awesome idea to try redefine something that is so concrete.

Another great set that she has is call Getty Images. A good portion of the pictures are portraying a stanza of a certain song. Like take the song Leaving Home by the Beatles. Mônica shows that by shooting a girl who is climbing out of her window by a sheet. I think these are such creative ways how to look at something that you hear.

ari.gabel

Meet Ari Gabel. He's a student at Ringling College of Art and Design. He's super talented and that's why he's number four.

Something that he has consistently done in his photostream (especially his older photographs) is that he photographs things that are almost run down and abandoned. This includes people and objects too. A recent post of his shows a girl sitting while doing laundry, and she looks tired and rundown. Also if you go farther back in his pictures you see him shoot a lot of abandoned places like a water treatment plantation. I really like its almost like he rediscovers it.

Another great thing about Ari is that he photographs what he knows. For example, most of his photostream is made up of his girlfriend, his friends or family and places he comes to. I think its a great thing just to photograph what is familiar to yourself. And that way its different for each person.

Zack Ahern

Meet Zach.

He's a 21 year old sophomore at Oklahoma State. And he's my number three.

If there's one thing thats evident about Zach's photography is that he is very passionate about it. You can automatically tell that he puts in all that he has for just one photo.

The main thing that is great about Zach is that he is very dramatic in the scenes he portrays. He is especially this way when he shows gore. He makes them sooooo realistic its kinda scary. He loves using blood to make a big point. He use them in everything from displaying a heart break to Christ's death on the cross.

Another big trademark of Zach is strobe lights. He'll use them on basically every photo shoot that he has. It makes his photos much more interesting and his own. But the best part of him using the strobe lights is that he'll usually show how he positioned them so that you yourself could reproduce a shot like his. This makes him not only a great photographer but also a good teacher. Which is like the best of both worlds!

Colin H.

Meet Colin.

Colin is an 18 year old from Florida and happens to be a great photographer.

He has a lot of strengths in his photography but the are a couple that really stand out to me. For instance clarity is most definitely a strength of his. He knows how to get the most clarity out of a picture possible. And one of the best things he does is that its not always the focal point. Like in his one of his newest picture that he posted there was a guy walking in an ally way but instead of him being clear he was completely blurry and the bricks around him were clear. I think that's an awesome way to get people's attention when looking at a picture.

My absolute favorite thing that Colin does is what he does with light. I have no idea how he does it but he is able to make light streaks in different colors. It almost looks natural but it could be done in his computer too, I'd love to know how he does it. But at the same time the mystery how this happens is also why I love these. Its like his little secret to beauty which is beautiful in itself.

Heres an awesome example of what I'm talking about:

laurenmarek

Meet Lauren Marek.

She is right now my favorite user of Flickr. To start out I'll tell you why I love her photography the best.

My favorite thing she does is the way she values the picture in a different color than the original. She will take an original picture and tint it usually in purple to make an ordinary picture extraordinary. It makes it so much more interesting to look at and I am deeply impressed. Here's a link for an example: http://www.flickr.com/photos/laurenmarek/4191363472/in/set-72157623380027193/

Another reason why I love her is that her models 9 times out of 10 are her own family. It makes her Flickr so much more personal and easier to connect with.

Lauren started a set of pictures call 'I Was Here'. In her words it is 'what we leave behind, our impact on our surroundings.' It is also all in film. I love the idea of that everything that we around and touch we impact. Its a great idea and I'm excited to see how far she will take it.
